What a wonderful night for caterers and their associates! This month we kept it informal -- a welcome break in our busy holiday season. Most of our members were working that night, and attendance was light, so we planned none of the features of our regular meetings -- entertainment, sensational dinner, dynamite educational program, member testimonial, affiliate presentation, or valuable raffle prizes. Just great networking in a casual setting, for those of us who were available.
Virginia SantaInes (San Jose Hilton) generously provided linens, decor, appetizers and hosted cocktails. The offerings were Coconut Prawns, Calamari, Asian Spring Rolls and Spicy Wings, International Cheese Boards, Christmas Cookies and Chocolate Truffles, Robert Mondavi chardonnay and merlot, and the NACE Tini (Manhattan). Sponsors for the evening included audio by Robey Saylors (Elite Entertainment), and photography by Danielle Stolman (Not So Still Life Photography).
Next month we'll meet at the Crowne Plaza, San Jose, for another evening of great networking, this time with all our customary features -- an outstanding dinner, the installation ceremony for our new Board of Directors, an educational program about "Ballroom Dancing", presentation of the outstanding NACE member awards for 2009, an affiliate presentation, and outstanding raffle prizes. "Inauguration Ball" is the theme, and it promises to be a memorable evening.
